Taxonomy - Notes For Neet

Taxonomy

Firstly, Classification is given by "Linaeus" in the form of two kingdom system but it have many demerits As -

1. It did not explain that about force unicellular and multicellular organism, synthetic and non synthetic organism, eukaryotes and prokaryotes differentiation.

2.this classification is easy to understand but a many organism it did not fall into either category.

 The Two Kingdoms Are -

A. Animal Kingdom

B. Plant Kingdom

Again the living organism are classified by the RH whittaker in 1969. As five kingdom classification.

Five Kingdom Classification -

the main criteria for this classification is include cell structure, thallus organisation, mode of Nutrition, reproduction and phylogenetic relationship.

Five Kingdoms Are -

1. Monera

2. Protista

3. Fungi

4. Plantae

5. Animalia

1. Monera -

this Kingdom includes all type of bacteria which are most abundant microorganisms.

Bacteria cause almost anywhere.

Hundreds of bacteria present in soil.

bacteria also live in extreme habitat as ho springs, desert, snow, and deep oceans.

They may also live in/on  the organism and parasite.

bacteria are grouped into four categories on the basis of their structure.

A. Spherical / Coccus

B. Comma Shaped / Vibrion

C. Rod Shaped/ Bacillus

D. Spherical Shaped / Spirillum

group of bacteria have extensive metabolic diversity and have a complex behaviour and very simple in structure.

On the basis of Nutrition bacteria are of two types.

A. Autotrophs

B. Heterotrophs

A. Autotrophs -

They synthesise their food from inorganic substances.

They uses energy for food synthesis.

if they use sunlight as the source of energy then they are called photosynthetic autotrophs.

but if they uses energy from metabolic activities they are known as cheamosynthetic autotrophs.

B. Heterotrophs -

majority of bacteria do not synthesise their own food but depends on other organism or on dead organic matter for food.
